Bally Supersonic Project Close to Done

I am getting close to finishing this, the coin door on the Kiss is going on this one. I have 2 backglasses, they are not bad not great either. I am looking for the small plastic piece, lower left. I don't think I ever had it...The legs were painted with hammer metal paint and look great. The inside of the cabinet is fairly clean. I still have to get a couple of displays and adjust the switches. That should take another weekend. I really like this vintage of Bally machines, they are classic, fun to work on and fun to play.

Bally Supersonic Project Cabinet Restore

I took 2 heads and one cabinet and put them together to make one game. I had alot of trouble with the yellow. First time around I wasted 20.00 on spray paint that did not cover well. Next I got some mixed up a Walmart and rolled it on. I then MADE THE STENCILS BY HAND by tracing them out with a sharpie pen on plastic desktop transparency material from Staples. I then CUT THEM OUT BY HAND with an exacto knife, laid them down on the yellow and sprayed them with red and blue. I took photos of the front and simply masked off the areas. I use small nuts and bolts to hold the edges in place and spray in the appropriate direction and angle. I have one set of stencils so I do them flat, one side at a time. After I was done I cleared it with Semi Gloss so it shines evenly. It really turned out great. I used this same method on the Alien Poker I did.

I have been working on this one for a couple of years. Still need a couple of displays, clean up the coin door and some fine tuning. Power supply module and board rebuilt. It was in rough shape but I enjoyed working on it. I restored the playfield out of 2 and used the Marco decals. It has about 10 coats of varathane-maybe a bit too much because alot of varathane makes it difficult to work on the star rollovers. I had to clean them with an exacto knife when I was done. Note the before pics. Essentially I had to swap ALL of the wiring from one playfield to the next. Virtually all of the pins on the harness were replaced. Alot of them were bad on this machine.
